I’ve gotten faux MSN messages from several friends that invite you to click on a booby-trapped link, typically asking you to look at a photo. Thankfully as I’m on a Mac I’ve been immune to them (they download .exe files typically) but it seems more computers are getting infected.

Well it’s hardly breaking news, but I’m glad to see that in retrospect, I’m not alone in thinking that Rent was a completely insincere, inexplicably out-of-touch, ill-thought out farrago with “songs [that] are like a vaudeville performer’s idea of that newfangled rock music the kids are so nuts about these days.”
So I won’t be watching the DVD anytime soon.
And yeah, I saw the stage play, with the original cast. And I thought it sucked then, too.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch is pretty much everything Rent wishes it was — including having actual, you know, rock songs played by a punk band in it, with only one slow ballad, thankfully. The Lilith Fair parody scene is worth the price of admission alone.
Oh, and while we’re on the topic of Broadway: Avenue Q. Discuss.
